About the Youth Justice Agency Statistics & Research Branch

The Statistics and Research Branch of the Youth Justice Agency is located within the Corporate Services Directorate. It has a complement of two statisticians who are on loan from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency.

Key aims:

to provide a professional and independent research and statistical service to support the objectives of the Youth Justice Agency and;
to provide robust youth justice information to the Assembly, operational practitioners, operational managers, policy makers and the general public.

Specific Objectives

the provision of management information to inform evidence based operational and policy decision making;
the provision of robust data to monitor performance against agreed annual business targets;
the provision of analyses of issues relating to equity of treatment and public and stakeholder confidence in the youth justice agency;
research and statistical support to monitor internal programmes and projects; and
publishing relevant research and statistical bulletins.

Publications

All YJA Statistics & Research reports undergo regular quality assurance reviews to ensure that they meet customer needs. They are produced free from any political interference.
