Family Empowerment
- Research has shown that interventions with families and parents/carers are very effective in addressing offending behaviour by children and young people. (Cottrell and Boston, 2002)
- The most effective of these interventions involve working with families and parents/carers to help them develop the knowledge and skills to help themselves (Henggeler et al 1998, Liddle et al, 2001)
- Empowering families and parents/carers to effect change in their own lives is a more sustainable approach
