Multi-modal Interventions
- Multi-modal interventions which reduce risk factors and increase protective factors in each domain have been shown to be the most effective in reducing the risk of offending and re-offending in children and young people (Cottrell and Boston, 2002; Carr, 2000 and Kasdin, 1995)
- Modes of intervention in each domain should be linked directly to assessment and may include:- individual work, family work, group work, education/training/employment support, reparative activities, diversionary activities, systems interventions and referrals to other services
- The intensity/level of intervention offered should be related to the seriousness or persistence of offending, risk of re-offending or harm and position within the youth justice system (McGuire & Priestly, 1995).
