Relationship Approach
- Research strongly suggests that specific methods of intervention (what workers do) is less significant in determining outcomes than how the work is undertaken (McNeill, 2000).
- Any intervention with a young person and family should be delivered from within the context of positive working relationships based on good engagement, respect, honesty, trust and optimism.
- Professional working relationships should emphasise the importance of social role modelling, empowerment and the avoidance of dependency.
