Youth Justice Agency launches refreshed website (10/04/2008)
The Youth Justice Agency this week launched its fully refreshed website to coincide with its 5th anniversary. The website (www.youthjusticeagencyni.gov.uk) provides detailed information on the full range of services the Agency offers to young people, victims of youth crime, and the community in general. It also encompasses “Youth Zone” which is an interactive area to help young people learn about the youth justice system within Northern Ireland, and a “browsealoud” feature to help those with visual impairments navigate the website.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Bill Lockhart said:-
“This website refresh provides a “one-stop shop” for those seeking to find out about any aspect of the Agency’s work, whether that be in relation to early intervention measures through our Community Services, restorative justice through our Youth Conference Service, or custody.
“I am extremely pleased with the progress that the Agency has made during its first five years and the launch of our refreshed website today provides a timely reminder of those achievements”
“Key successes for the Agency over this period of time have included the creation and roll-out across the province of the Youth Conference Service, the opening of Woodlands, a purpose built Juvenile Justice Centre at Bangor, and a substantial rationalisation of the early intervention services provided through our Community Services.”
“The Agency has steadily grown in stature over the past 5 years and this is evidenced by significant growth in caseload right across the Agency. Referrals to the Youth Conference Service are fast approaching 2,000 per year while our Community Services team deal with almost 1,000 new cases per year.”
“I am extremely proud of the Agency’s achievements to date and, with the support of our newly refreshed website, we are fully committed to delivering much more in the years ahead in advancing our fight against youth crime.”
