Photographic competition winners announced ( 1/04/2010)
Winners of the Youth Justice Agency’s “Get Snapping” competition attended a prize giving ceremony in Hillsborough Castle on 29 March.Local personality Dan Gordon joined Youth Justice Agency (YJA) Chief Executive, Bill Lockhart, in presenting the 12 winners with their prizes of digital cameras and accessories, courtesy of sponsors The Co-operative Membership.
At the ceremony Eimear Logan from Dominican College, Belfast, was announced as the overall winner of the competition by John Harrison from Harrison Photography. Eimear will now join John for a professional photoshoot to gain first hand experience of the professional press photographer role.
Bill Lockhart said: “The number and standard of entries for this year’s competition was phenomenal and I am most impressed with the breadth of talent on display here today. The winners are a shining example to their peers. It was also very interesting to see the different interpretations on the theme and I hope this generated much worthwhile discussion thoughout classrooms and youth clubs across the province.
“Although the Agency works with young people who have become involved in offending behaviour we are also dedicated to promoting projects like this which encourage young people from all walks of life to express themselves through the arts or sports.
“I congratulate all winners and wish them every success with their future endeavours.
“I would also like to thank The Co-operative Membership and Harrison Photography for helping make the competition such a resounding success.”
