Appointment Of Second Non-Executive Director To The Youth Justice Agency Management Board ( 1/02/2007)
The Secretary of State, Peter Hain MP, today announced the appointment of Mrs Linda Kerr as a non-executive director of the Youth Justice Agency Management Board. The appointment, for a term of three years, takes effect from 1 February 2007.Peter Hain said: “I am pleased to confirm the appointment of Mrs Linda Kerr as a second non-executive director of the Youth Justice Agency.
“Her appointment will bring an increased external, independent perspective to the Agency and further assist in its effective management and in delivery of its overall aim of reducing youth crime and building confidence.”
NOTES TO EDITORS
- The Management Board of the Youth Justice Agency consists of the Chief Executive, four executive members, and, following this appointment, two non-executive directors.
- Linda Kerr lives in Holywood, Co Down. She was, until recently, Director of Legal Services and Complaints at the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (since 2004). Her background within the legal profession has included previous roles as a solicitor, law lecturer and more recently as a barrister.
- Linda is also actively involved within the voluntary sector where she was a founder member and chairperson of Belfast Women’s Aid. She is also a founder member, volunteer and management committee member of Knock Child Contact Centre (since 1998) and continues to fulfil roles as a Mental Health Befriender (since 1973) and as a Childline Volunteer (since 2003).
- The Agency’s first non-executive director, Shane Logan, was appointed in March 2005.
