Photographic Competition
MAKING A DIFFERENCE COMPETITION 2012
The Youth Justice Agency is holding a competition for 10-17 year olds to highlight the positive contribution they make to today's society and their local communities.
The theme of the competition is:
Young people can make a difference
Entrants are invited to show us what the theme means to them through one of the following categories:
- Photography
- Short film
- Poetry or short story
- Song or rap
Age groups
Entries will be judged in the following age groups with prizes in each of the categories:
10-13 years old and 14-17 years old
PRIZES
There will be a range of prizes including:
1. Digital cameras, i-pods and kindle e-readers for young people, courtesy of The Co-operative Membership
2. Vouchers for the winners' schools/youth clubs
3. Attendance at a professional photoshoot , courtesy of Harrison Photography.
All winners, accompanied by parents or guardians and a teacher or youth worker, will also be invited to a prize giving ceremony in Parliament Buildings at Stormont in Spring 2012.
Photographs
Entrants can either submit one single photograph or a montage of no more than 4 photographs. Entries must be accompanied by a short narrative of no more than 30 words explaining how the theme has been met. Photographs can be submitted electronically via our website www.youthjusticeagencyni.gov.uk. Alternatively entries can be submitted on a disc or hardcopy in the post. Hardcopies should not exceed 10x8 inches.
Short film
Films should be no more than 3 minutes long and must be submitted on DVD or memory stick. Films should be wma, avi or mpeg format.
Poetry/short story
Poems should be no more than 28 lines long and short stories no more than 2,000 words. These can be either typed or handwritten.
Song/rap
Songs must be no longer than 3 minutes long and must be submitted on CD or memory stick. Entrants may also wish to send a DVD to show their song or rap being performed. Music should be in wma or mp3 format.
General rules
Parental permission will be sought before any winners' details are confirmed or published.
All entries must be the original work of the entrants and must not infringe the rights of other parties.
Permission should be sought from any third parties featuring in photographs or short films or mentioned in poems, short stories or songs.
The Youth Justice Agency reserves the right to disqualify any entries deemed to contain inappropriate material.
By entering the competition all entrants give permission for the Youth Justice Agency to publish and exhibit entries in any future publicity campaign or their website.
